From the Heart
November 2021
Message from the Co-Founders
grat·i·tude
noun
the quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness.
During this month of November, the Operation BBQ Relief team has been constantly reminded of how the organization has grown since 2011 with the theme of gratitude in mind. We are thankful to the incredible sponsors, supporters, volunteers, and staff that stand ready to show apprecation and kindness in a moment’s notice. The spirit of gratitude has helped Operation BBQ Relief host numerous Days of Giving events throughout the country. Veterans experiencing homelessness received a hot meal on Veterans Day. Families facing poverty due to the wildfires received a delicious gourmet family dinner to reheat on Thanksgiving. Individuals without families or homes received a hot meal on Thanksgiving at various shelters. We are deeply grateful for each opportunity to give back and show appreciation for communities we have served.
This Giving Tuesday, we invite you to join our efforts to be a force for good and continue to permeate the spirit of gratitude throughout communities in need.
Thank you for your support of Operation BBQ Relief.
We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday seasion!
Much respect,
Stan Hays, CEO
Will Cleaver, CPO and Head of Finance

The Always Serving Project®
Mission accomplished with the Mayor of Flavortown Guy Fieri and The Guy Fieri Foundation! 5000 “off the hook” Thanksgiving Dinners were cooked and delivered in northern California! Special thanks to Butterball, King’s Hawaiian, and Clover Sonoma for the generous donations to help serve communities in need.
We love teaming up with our incredible supporters, staff, and volunteers to host Days of Giving events for communities coast to coast!
Area Coordinator Spotlight

How did you get involved with Operation BBQ Relief?
I had a good friend from Nashville send me a post that she saw from Operation BBQ Relief. Somebody she knew was heading down with Operation BBQ Relief to help after Hurricane Laura devastated Lake Charles, LA. She said it looked like something I’d be interested in and she couldn’t have been more right.
Why volunteer with Operation BBQ Relief?
There are so many ways to help out after a disaster that it can be overwhelming to decide where to invest your time. I’ve worked in the food industry for almost 20 years so I leaned towards that area in where to help. I picked Operation BBQ Relief because BBQ is comfort for me, too. Feeding a person in a time of need is an entire love language. It’s my family’s love language so it just made sense to join an organization that felt the same. Since Day 1 I was welcomed with open arms by Operation BBQ Relief. These people show up for each other every day, both on and off deployments. That’s super important to me.
Favorite Operation BBQ Relief moment: Learning I was a finalist for not only the New Volunteer Award but also the Motivational Award this year. Being recognized by people you have so much respect for really does something for the soul.
