Pilger, Nebraska (Tornado) / 6,800 Meals Over 4 Days

On June 16, 2014, a supercell storm resulted in multiple tornadoes across the state of Nebraska. Three EF4 twisters impacted Stanton County, and the town of Pilger was directly hit as a twin tornado cut a parallel path nearby. The tornadoes resulted in two fatalities, 20 critical injuries, and millions of dollars in damage to homes, businesses, and farmsteads. Led by Troy Youngblood, Operation BBQ Relief volunteers set up base camp at the Wisner-Pilger High School. Thanks to the support of countless individuals, BBQ teams, businesses/corporations, and donations that poured in from across the state, Operation BBQ provided hot BBQ meals throughout Pilger and the neighboring communities.
