From the Heart
December 2020
Message from the Co-Founders
Dear Friends,
We hope you are enjoying this holiday season as we continue to adjust to the new normal. As we reflect on the accomplishments of Operation BBQ Relief during the past year, we are amazed at how the OBR family came together to provide over 5 million meals in 2020. We extend our gratitude to our sponsors, donors, and volunteers that continue to help us share the healing power of BBQ coast to coast.
The year brought new challenges, from a pandemic that left communities vulnerable to historic hurricanes, tornadoes, wildfires, and a derecho that destroyed homes and families. Through it all, the mission of Operation BBQ Relief remained true. During the COVID-19 crisis, Operation BBQ Relief launched Operation Restaurant Relief, revitalizing restaurants and rehiring their employees while delivering the hope of a meal to first responders, health care workers, the homeless, students, veterans, and families across the nation.
Operation BBQ Relief continued the healing power of BBQ, pouring hours of love and service into millions of meals for families and communities in need to address the fight on hunger.
Over 5 million meals served in 2020, over 5 million hearts touched by our disaster response team and The Always Serving Project programs.
Thank you for your continued support!
We wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season filled with peace and joy.
Best regards,
Stan Hays, CEO
Will Cleaver, CPO and Head of Finance

BBQ Basics – Tacoma, WA
“During Veterans Day week, Operation BBQ Relief was able to connect, inspire, serve, and educate veterans in the Tacoma, WA area through the BBQ Basics program. The power of breaking bread and hearing stories alongside veterans are what makes these events so special. I appreciate everything veterans did to protect our freedom.”

“You know I hate that I can’t be out there with my guys right now, but I’m still getting in on the action with #MyCauseMyCleats! We’re auctioning off my one-of-a-kind Nike cleats designed by DeJesus Custom Footwear to raise funds & awareness for a cause close to my heart. Operation BBQ Relief is a non-profit that provides comfort to those in need after natural disasters and shows up where and when they’re needed most. They served over 5 MILLION meals across the US in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and disasters. Head to the link to bid now!”
