On October 28, 2025, Hurricane Melissa devastated Jamaica. After a careful assessment, we determined that the most effective response would look different from our traditional deployment.
While our smokers didn’t fire up and our field kitchens remained packed, our mission was unchanged: to provide comfort and ensure the people of Jamaica knew they were not alone.
Instead, our dedicated team of staff and volunteers worked around the clock at our Tennessee and Virginia warehouses, loading thousands of shelf-stable meals for staging in Tampa, Florida. There, we recruited additional volunteers to assemble meal kits designed to sustain a family of four for three days.
Through strategic partnerships, we delivered these meals over the following three months. In total, we provided 204,703 meals to those impacted by the storm. During this response, we reached our milestone of 13 million meals provided since our founding in 2011!
