London, Kentucky (Tornado) / 8,200 Meals Over 11 Days

May 16, 2025 | Deployments

When a devastating EF4 tornado struck London, Ky., and surrounding areas on May 16, 2025, Operation BBQ Relief was on the ground within 48 hours—ready to deliver comfort, hope, and nourishment. Over eight days, our dedicated team of volunteers provided “The One Hot Meal That Matters” more than 8,000 times to survivors, first responders, and relief workers.

“We were touched by your generosity and stories. I’ve always heard in times like these to look for those that are quietly working, those are the people you want to be around. It’s certainly true! I saw that in your volunteers and all the others from our community that have quietly shown up and given of their gifts and talents,” Marsee, a meal recipient, shared with us.

To our volunteers, sponsors, community partners, and staff—thank you. Your compassion, grit, and generosity made this response possible. Together, we delivered The Healing Power of BBQ when it mattered most.

Kentucky, your strength and hospitality continue to inspire us. Across four deployments and more than 200,000 meals provided, your spirit fuels our mission. If disaster strikes again, we’ll be back—ready to serve with hot meals and unwavering hope.
