From June 18 to 22, 2025, Camp OBR welcomed a remarkable group of widows and significant others who have lost their life partners in military service. In partnership with the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), this retreat offered space to reconnect with themselves and others who truly understand.
Throughout the week, guests found comfort and camaraderie through shared meals, lake adventures, ATV rides, and culinary therapy with a champion pitmaster Sunny Moody. These moments of connection, whether around the fire or in the kitchen, offered not just distraction but restoration.
In one of the most meaningful moments of the retreat, each participant created and hung a dog tag in our memorial gazebo, a quiet, personal tribute to the love they still carry.
We are deeply grateful to TAPS, our volunteers, donors, and sponsors for making this experience possible. Camp OBR is honored to be a space where grief can breathe, where healing can begin, and where every story is held with care.
At Camp OBR, healing takes many forms.
Some are loud and boisterous out on the lake.
