Over two weeks in late March and early April, dozens of volunteers and staff members from across the country came together to help prepare Camp OBR for the busy summer season. Generations of Veterans—from Vietnam to post-9/11— along with First Responders, Military Spouses, Families of the Fallen, and our amazing civilian volunteers— rolled up their sleeves and got to work.
They tackled big projects, shared meals, and experienced everything Camp OBR has to offer, from Culinary Therapy and community building to ATVs and clay shooting.
But when disaster strikes, we serve— and sometimes, the mission hits close to home.
On April 2, 2025, a tornado devastated Nevada, Mo.—not far from Camp OBR. Without hesitation, our team shifted gears. Our dedicated team paused their work to prepare 450 hot meals at Camp, delivering them to families and first responders in Nevada, Mo.—bringing The Healing Power of BBQ to a community in crisis.
We’re so thankful to every volunteer, team member, chef, and the visual storytellers who captured these moments so we could share them with you.
These two weeks were full of purpose, connection, and service—and it’s just the beginning of what’s to come this summer at Camp OBR.
