From the Heart

May 2022

Message from the Co-Founders

Operation BBQ Relief served our first meals 11 years ago on May 24, 2011.  Since those first meals, Operation BBQ Relief has served 9.6 million more meals since 2011. We want to convey many, many  thanks, gratitude, and appreciation to all Operation BBQ Relief volunteers, supporters, sponsors, and staff. You have helped us share the healing power of BBQ during the past 11 years.

Speaking of supporters, we were honored to meet so many of you at the 2nd Annual Celebrity BBQ Academy & Golf Classic and Camp OBR Ribbon Cutting. We are so humbled by your continued commitment in sharing time, talent, and treasure while furthering the mission of Operation BBQ Relief.

As we approach Memorial Day, Operation BBQ Relief extends our heartfelt thoughts to all members of the military, and especially, families who suffered loss and whose relatives made the ultimate sacrifice to our country. Through The Always Serving Project and Camp OBR, we are honored to serve those who serve us, and their families and relatives.  We are committed to sharing the healing power of BBQ to form friendships and camaraderie among our nation’s heroes and their families. Together we can play a small role in bettering their lives.

We wish you and your family a safe and impactful Memorial Day weekend.

Camp OBR Ribbon Cutting

Thank you to all the supporters that attended the Camp OBR Ribbon Cutting in Lincoln, MO. We are excited for this new initiative to provide support, hope, compassion, and friendship to members of the military, veterans, first responders, Gold Star, Red Star, and Blue Star families. We were honored to have a flyover by Whiteman Air Force Base to commemorate the day.

The Always Serving Project®

“To say the last few days were amazing is an understatement. The entire Operation BBQ Relief staff and volunteers along with Certified Angus Beef ® brand Chef Michael Ollier shared so much BBQ knowledge with first responders from throughout the region. Our pitmaster Rusty Edwards helped us come away with 2nd Place Steak and 3rd Place Ribs. Thanks to each of the participants for helping us make this event such a success.”

Celebrity BBQ Academy & Golf Classic

The 2nd Annual Celebrity BBQ Academy & Golf Classic was a huge success! Thank you to Country Music Star Colt Ford for an incredible performance at the VIP Dinner and kicking off the golf tournament.  We are grateful for all the sponsors, celebrities, volunteers, and supporters that made the events a success.
