Louisville, Mississippi (Tornado) / 11,060 Meals Over 5 Days

Apr 14, 2014 | Deployments

From April 27 to 28, 2014, tornado outbreaks struck areas across the lower midwest and southeast. In this two-day period, there were 66 confirmed tornados (two of which were rated EF4). Mayflower, Tupelo, and Louisville were struck particularly hard by these tornadoes. On April 28, an EF4 tornado struck Winston County and cut a path of destruction through the county and city of Louisville. The tornado laid a 36 mile path of destruction, killed 10 people, and injured more than 80 others. Thanks to its growing volunteer base, including competition/catering teams willing to bring their own smokers, Operation BBQ was able to simultaneously deploy to three separate locations!
