Hoboken, Staten Island, Long Beach & Brick, New Jersey (Hurricane Sandy) / 100,200 Meals Over 12 Days

From October 22 to November 2, 2012, Hurricane Sandy tore through the Northeastern United States. At the time, this was the largest Atlantic hurricane on record. 285 people were killed across seven countries, and the storm left over $75 billion in damages. Operation BBQ Relief teams from the surrounding states set up in Hoboken, Neptune, and Manhattan. At the height of operations, Operation BBQ Relief volunteers were cooking in nine separate locations in New York and New Jersey, teaming up with other organizations such as Mercy Chefs and The BBQ Brethren. During this time, Operation BBQ Relief received generous donations from 40 states and 2 countries.
