Harrisburg, Pennsylvania (Flooding) / 5,000 Meals Over 3 Days

Sep 11, 2011 | Deployments

In August 2011, Hurricane Irene swept through the Caribbean and eastern portion of the United States and flooded areas from North Carolina to Maine. Immediately following this hurricane, Tropical Storm Lee soaked the Midwest and the Northeast. The storm left many inches of rain and led to the worst flooding Pennsylvania had experienced in 40 years. Teams from Operation BBQ Relief setup in the parking lot of Walmart in Harrisburg. Operation BBQ Relief volunteers distributed meals to displaced residents and first responders.
