In August 2016, Louisiana experienced over 30 inches of rainfall during a three-day period which led to catastrophic flooding. Approximately 146,000 homes were damaged across the state and at least 13 people were killed. In response, Operation BBQ Relief quickly deployed for 13 days to provide 313,587 hot barbecue meals to first responders, relief workers, and residents impacted by the floods. It was during this deployment, on Aug. 28, 2016, that we served our 1 millionth meal in Hammond, Louisiana!
