College Station, Texas

May 22, 2024 | Days of Giving

We were honored to support the Texas Search and Rescue Exercise (TX SAREX) on May 22, 2024, which brought together Texas Task Force 1, first responders, National Guard units, response agencies, and others during a training exercise at Texas A&M Engineering Extension Service’s Disaster City in College Station, Texas.

As helicopters circled the area searching for “survivors,” Operation BBQ Relief volunteers and staff worked alongside pitmasters from 205 Pitmasters, students from Rockwall ISD high schools and the Dr. Gene Burton College & Career Academy, to prepare and serve free hot barbecue meals to more than 250 first responders and military personnel participating in the exercise. We were proud to serve our heroes in uniform as they trained to save lives.
