TAPS Siblings Retreat

Oct 16, 2024 | Camp OBR News

In October, while most of our team was providing meals across Florida, North Carolina, and Tennessee in response to Hurricanes Helene and Milton, our commitment to supporting heroes in uniform and their families remained steadfast.

From October 16-20, we had the privilege of hosting 28 siblings of fallen military heroes from the Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS) at Camp OBR. These individuals participated in a unique retreat focused on culinary therapy, connection, and outdoor activities.

The retreat was led by the Operation BBQ Relief team in collaboration with celebrity chef and pitmaster Matthew Groark of Groarky Boys’ BBQ. We were deeply honored to welcome these courageous individuals to Camp OBR. Their strength and resilience in the face of profound loss moved and inspired us beyond words.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff who make this healing sanctuary for our heroes and their families possible. None of this would happen without your generosity and support.
