Camp OBR – Work Weekend

Mar 28, 2024 | Camp OBR News

Camp OBR was alive with energy as our incredible team of staff and volunteers came together for a work weekend like no other! We want to give a huge shoutout to all the amazing folks who joined us, including our buddies from @movets_outdoors, and our volunteers Randy Hartmann, Steve Anderson, and Gene Boldman. Their dedication and hard work made a world of difference as we tackled everything from building fences to putting together furniture.

And let’s not forget our local heroes from the Lakeview Heights Fire Protection District, who helped us out by safely conducting a prescribed burn on the property. Their support means the world to us!

But the highlight of the weekend? When we heard about Vic, a 21 year Army veteran in our community who took a tumble on an old, rickety staircase at home, we knew we had to step in. Led by our awesome team members—Jason, Brett, Steve, and Gene—we demolished the old stairs and built Vic a brand-new set. It was our way of saying “thank you” to someone who’s given so much to our country.

These moments of kindness and community spirit are what make Camp OBR truly special. We can’t wait to welcome our heroes and their families this summer, knowing that our camp is ready and waiting thanks to the incredible efforts of our OBR family.
