On March 8, 2017, Reno County and the surrounding communities experienced intense wildfires. The fires are estimated to have burned over 5,400 acres of residential property and a golf course. 10 homes were destroyed and two people were injured, and many more were evacuated from their homes. Operation BBQ Relief provided hot BBQ meals to residents, first responders, and community volunteers.
