KANSAS CITY, Mo.- November 5, 2024: In an incredible show of generosity and community spirit, Operation BBQ Relief partnered with Big Green Egg in an exclusive fundraising match campaign that raised more than $140,000 in just one week. After witnessing the relief efforts led by Operation BBQ Relief (OBR) across the Southeast in the wake of Hurricanes Helene and Milton, Big Green Egg and its founder, Ed Fisher, pledged to match donations up to $50,000 for contributions made between October 4th and October 12th, 2024. The campaign kicked off at the 27th Annual EGGtoberfest, a global culinary showcase of live fire cooks, hosted by Big Green Egg in Atlanta, Georgia.
This initiative showcases the power of teamwork and highlights the dedication and passion of BBQ enthusiasts across the nation. The response was overwhelming, with “Eggheads”, passionate Big Green Egg customers, and Operation BBQ Relief supporters coming together to support the organization’s ongoing mission to provide hot BBQ meals to those impacted by Hurricanes Helene and Milton, including families, first responders, and linemen working to restore power. “We are deeply grateful to Big Green Egg and Ed Fisher, for their incredible generosity and for recognizing the importance of our mission,” said Stan Hays, CEO and co-founder of Operation BBQ Relief. “Thanks to their matching campaign and the outpouring of support from both Eggheads and our own community, we can continue to provide warm, comforting meals during critical times.”
