Monroe, West Monroe and Shreveport, LA (Flooding) / 58,530 Meals in 9 Days

When a slow-moving storm dropped 20+ inches of rain across northern Louisiana, the stage was set for one of the most prolific flood disasters that the area had ever seen. From March 8 – 12, 2016, rain pounded the area, triggering extreme flash flooding and sending thousands of evacuees fleeing.

Operation BBQ Relief set up a centralized basecamp at Family Church in West Monroe, LA, to provide hot BBQ meals for folks from Shreveport to Monroe. The Operation BBQ Relief team did what they do best…smoking pork butts and loins, while local volunteers worked assembly-line fashion plating individual meals for distribution.
