We are off to a busy start in 2014. It is hard to believe the first quarter of the year is over. We have had a very busy winter working to improve our disaster response processes, fixing and improving our trailers and other equipment, along with fundraising, speaking engagements, expos and more. Our planning we hope will improve our response time to disasters, volunteer communication and communication to our supporters.

We will also be launching a redesigned website in late April early May that integrates an improved volunteer management and communication system. This new system we believe will be the key to improving the volunteer experience.

Lastly, we are excited about some new equipment that we are receiving.

Farmers Insurance has been a big supporter and confirmed last month that they are donating to us one of their suburbans and toyhaulers that were used for disaster response and marketing for the last 5 years. We are receiving a 2008 Chevy Suburban and a 2007 Thor FB22 Toyhauler. The suburban will help our ability to move trailers around the country when needed and the toyhauler is a great command center as it has a onboard generator with large fuel tank, bathroom and bed.

Next is the donation from Heatilator Fireplaces a leader in the Hearth Industry. They donated the funds to purchase a 2014 Chevy Express 3500 van that has had a 14 foot box on it that has been converted into a Supershot Truck by Delivery Concepts of Chicago. Heatilator is a great supporter of ours along with their parent company Hearth and Home Technologies. Their donation will allow us to help broaden our reach during a disaster.

We have all new equipment in KC now and working to get the items wrapped and ready to roll out when a disaster strikes.
