Over the last 3.5 years we have evolved. Our group has grown and we have volunteers spread across this great country. We have had to adapt how our volunteers register and the information we gather. As we have upgraded and updated we have had some issues transferring all the data across different technology. We have been able to migrate email addresses from all the systems we have used. With that being said, we will be sending every past and present volunteer an email. We humbly request that you update your information in our new system along with a password. If you are interested in volunteering and have not set up an account in our new volunteer system, please do. The new system will allow us to track where our volunteers are located, what equipment and skills they have, as well as the number of deployments or service projects they have volunteered. We can track training and necessary certifications that will become necessary in the future for volunteers and more.
Texting is not new technology, however it is a very viable solution for Operation BBQ Relief. We have created a new system where volunteers can start their registration process via Text. If you are a past or present volunteer, and you are not signed up for our texting, please do so. Texting is extremely important during disasters as many other systems do not work. Texting will allow us to contact volunteers in the area as well as alert volunteers during times of bad weather on a deployment. We would like all our volunteers to TEXT the word Volunteer to 79774. Please follow the prompts as you move through the signing up process. If you have already registered on our website you can stop there, if you have not registered online then you can proceed and follow the steps.
The text data and information is sponsored Spend Smart and VIP Text Deals. We need to let you know that standard text message rates will apply. You can text Help for help or Stop to stop getting texts from us.
As a little added incentive we will be giving away prizes from December 20th 2014 through March 1st 2015. You will get two opportunities to win. First, if you register your cell number you have one chance in the drawing. Second, you will need to log into your volunteer account on our website, update/verify your information between Dec 20th and March 1st. We will give our first prizes away on New Year’s Day. Only those that have done the above by noon on New Year’s Day will be eligible. We will pull one winner via text and other from login date/time from the volunteer page.
